Jump It! Jump It!

The sport of hurdles involves running, and then when a hurdle comes you have to jump it and continue on your run. It's usually 110 Meters long, and the point is to be the fastest. Basically it's a more difficult 100 meter race. Obstacles are placed in the runners way on purpose.

Why do we have hurdles? What's the point?

It has been said that the only way a person can have self confidence is by overcoming hurdles. Because accomplishing something you didn't think you could results in a special kind of high, that makes you think that you are wonderful, worth something, and that the sky is the limit.

If we didn't have hurdles, we would be a weak miserable people. This world, every nation, family, school, and people have hurdles. We all have things that weigh us down, cause pain and beat us up a little bit.

Here are my steps to overcoming hurdles.

1) Know what it is. Figure out that you may be struggling with something. Label it. Define it. Don't let it define you. Do research if you have to. Understand all that you can about that hurdle. Knowledge is power, and in the right hands it's powerful.

2) BE POSITIVE. This is the hardest one, because at the base of any hurdle it's so much easier to stand there and think of ways around it, or not to deal with it at all. Let go of all your past baggage and allow yourself to believe in greatness. It's possible. Do not be scared to rise up to the challenge. We all have to. Why not allow yourself to be great?

3) Find supportive people- No man is an island. We CANNOT do it alone, we need someone. There will always be people in our lives that create hurdles, or pull us down. Shed those people, and find the ones that will help you climb when it gets tough. Because it will.

4) KEEP GOING. Life keeps going, we need to keep going. The way to overcome hurdles is to keep moving, because soon enough you will pass some. Keep moving, keep trying, don't give in. When you are moving in life, it means you are about to accomplish something, and why not allow that something, to be something great. All of the worlds successful people became successful because they kept going when the rest stopped. It's that last 10% when you are ready to quit that greatness will be achieved.

Hurdles come in all different ways in our life. Sometimes is the loss of a loved one. Sometimes is failure at school, it's a heartbreak, or maybe a sickness. We all have them. Not one person on this planet escapes without pain and suffering. It's what we do with it that matters. Whatever the hurdle is, it only has as much power as we give it. Allow yourself to rise about the hurdles, and to keep climbin and greatness will be achieved. It has to.

Summing it Up Through Songs

As always I like to sum up the year, month by month.. however that post comes the first day of January. Look for it.  Today, I will sum up the biggest part of my 2013 year through music lyrics of songs that I feel have touched me, inspired me, or reminded me.  Enjoy.  I heard the doctor, but what did he say, I knew I was fine about this time yesterday.- Ben Rector, When a Heart Breaks.  If you're lost and alone, or you're sinking like a stone, Carry on. - FUN, Carry On. It's time to defy gravity- Wicked, Defying Gravity  It's the way you do the things you do that make me fall in love with you- Rocket to the Moon, Dakota  It's okay not to be okay, sometimes it's hard to follow your heart. Tears don't mean you're losing, everybody's bruising, just be true to who you are- Jessie J, Who you are. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, what doesn't kill you makes you a fighter- Kelly Clarkson, Stronger You can't carry i

Your "Thoughts and Prayers" Are Bullshit.

Yes. I said it. I also thoroughly agree with that statement. Here's why. As I've been going through pretty huge and life-changing medical problems, my family has been physically nowhere near me. Granted my intestine decided to swell up in Saskatoon, which isn't convenient for anyone. It's given me so much time to think, in some scary and painful moments. Let me preface this by saying I'm not a religious person,  However from what I know, God, helped those in need, he didn't just pray for the sick,  he visited them, and he served them. Let's imagine that when that blind guy came to he Jesus, Jesus said, "You're in my thoughts and prayers" and then left. That story would have turned out very differently. We all do and say things in our lives almost out of habit. Like think of how many times you've said "Hey how are you?" and not actually listened for the answer. Lots, I know. I do this ALL the time, and I'm working incr
